Novell Inc has won IBM Corp as the latest customer for its Internet Caching System. IBM will bundle the software with hardware based on its NetFinity line of Intel servers as appliances, and the systems will be available from both IBM and Novell distributors. ICS runs on top of the Netware microkernel, and Novell claims it can be both faster and cheaper than competitive products from such companies as CacheFlow Inc, Network Appliance Inc and Inktomi Corp. Other OEMs for ICS, which was announced back in March, include Compaq Computer Corp, Dell Computer Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co and NEC Corp.
