Ryanair has developed a new passenger booking and travel platform with Comtrade in an attempt to make bookings faster and more convenient.

The myRyanair platform speeds up bookings by over 20 percent and can fill four Boeing 737s every minute at peak booking times.
The app allows customers to select travel preferences based on a personal profile they create. They can securely store payment and passport details on it.

It is able to assist with other travel-related activities, such as providing tailored holiday tips and money-saving logistics. This could include linking them to other passengers for sharing taxis or offering restaurant suggestions.

Comtrade developed the app over nine months based on the ideas of Ryanair’s user interface design team. It took 36,000 developer hours.

The project is part of an effort by Ryanair to disrupt the aviation industry by overhauling its technology and becoming a digital travel company.

John Hurley, CTO, Ryanair, said: "In the future, I see Ryanair as a digital travel leader that happens to have an airline attached to it. We want to use technology to personalise the user experience for our increasingly tech-savvy customer base and myRyanair is very strategic and central to that vision."

Hurley said that the platform is built to handle details for 106 million people and will grow as the airline’s business grows.

"Our partnership with Comtrade was fundamental to turning myRyanair from a vision to a reality. With the team’s expertise, innovation and unwavering professionalism, Comtrade has helped Ryanair lay the foundations for the future."

Dejan Cušic, Solutions and Services Business Director, Ireland & UK, Comtrade, said: "The team recognised the changing needs of the airline’s customer base and myRyanair is the perfect solution; establishing Ryanair as a cutting-edge trailblazer with the customer experience at its heart."
