NBC Olympics has selected AT&T to provide its networking services during its coverage of the Olympic Games in London.
AT&T will connect NBC Olympics division in the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) production facilities in London to NBC’s Olympics division facilities in the United States.
"To bring our coverage of the 2012 London Olympic Games home to the American audience we need a company with proven network reliability and service excellence. That’s why we chose AT&T," said Bob Kiraly, director, Broadcast and Telecommunications Operations, NBC Olympics.
AT&T has been providing network bandwidth to aid the NBC Olympics division in transmitting coverage since the 1996 Atlanta Games in the U.S. The communications company will provide large bandwidth volumes to support NBC’s Olympics division for the 2012 Games.
Viewers in the U.S will be able to stream the games online in real time rather than watching it on TV with tape delay.
"The 2012 London Olympic Games coverage in the U.S. includes large bandwidth volumes that will be used to support NBC’s Olympics division’s multi-platform approach so viewers in America can more easily engage with the Olympics excitement."
AT&T will have support teams for NBC Olympics in London and New to provide constant monitoring and management of network performance to ensure uninterrupted transmission of London Olympics coverage.
