ECI Telecom, a provider of networking infrastructure solutions, has announced that Metrosystems, a system integrator in Switzerland, has selected its 9700 series carrier ethernet switch router for its carrier-class ethernet solution portfolio.

Experiencing the demand for carrier ethernet solutions, Metrosystems required a partner to address its customer needs for new data-driven services delivered at a higher capacity. Part of ECI’s recently announced 1Net business framework, ECI’s Carrier Ethernet Switch Router (CESR) platform was selected to provide support for the new ethernet and IP services, said ECI Telecom.

With this selection, ECI’s CESR 9700 series is providing Metrosystems and its customers with a carrier-grade packet transport solution that is MEF-certified. With the need to add new offerings and replace existing solutions, ECI’s CESR solution enables Metrosystems to remain competitive while reducing operational and capital expenditures, added ECI.

By choosing ECI’s CESR portfolio, Metrosystems and its customers benefit with a scalable packet platform to deliver ethernet and IP services for businesses, residential and mobile users. Delivering true convergence with support of layer two and layer three services and integration of packet and optical technologies at overall higher densities will provide the capabilities that Metrosystems and its customers require.

Andre Otto, general manager of Metrosystems, said: When looking for a new partner to deliver Carrier ethernet solutions, ECI’s CESR platform proved to be far above other similar solutions based on its flexibility, advanced feature set, like 10GE and MPLS capabilities and future proof platform priced cost-effectively. We look forward to working with ECI on future endeavors.
