JDSU, a provider of communications test and measurement services, has acquired Circadiant, a provider in SFP+, 10 GigE and other stressed signal test services. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

This acquisition of Circadiant is expected to expand JDSU’s product portfolio for the lab and production test market, including Circadiant’s Hydra and OST product platforms, established test expertise and close customer relationships with network equipment manufacturers, optical module vendors and semiconductor companies.

According to the company, JDSU’s optical transport product development capabilities and distribution channels will be established by Circadiant and enhance the availability of SFP+, 10GigE and other stressed signal test services.

The company claims that, the SFP+ transceiver is specified by a multi-source agreement (MSA) between manufacturers and enables greater port density (the number of transceivers per inch along the edge of a mother board) than other transceiver configurations.  SFP+ is working as the 10 GigE optical interface of choice because it enables lower cost and even higher port density network interface cards.

Bill Mortimer, vice president and general manager in JDSU’s communications test and measurement business segment, said: “Circadiant has technology and products which complement the JDSU optical transport test portfolio and offer test capabilities customers are asking for.”

JDSU enables broadband and optical systems in the communications, commercial and consumer markets. It is also a provider of optical services for medical/environmental instrumentation, semiconductor processing, display, brand authentication, aerospace and defense, and decorative applications.
