NEC Corp and its personal computer sales subsidiary NEC Home Electronics have announced yet another four new models of its PC-9801 personal computers, which still have more than 50% of the Japanese market, and launched the Japanese language version of MS-Windows 3.0 and two network operating systems Japanese language Microsoft OS/2 LAN Manager 2.0 and NetWare 386 V3.1J; MS-Windows will be available from the middle of the month at $190 and NetWare and LAN Manager will be available in Japanese at the end of the month for around $3,600 and $1,300 respectively; the new hardware includes two 32-bit PC-9801DA and DS series, involves an upgrade of the former PC-9801RA and PC-9801RS with a maximum of 6Mb memory and a Graph BIOS, which increases the speed of graphics by a factor between 1.2 and 1.6; the new models are 10% cheaper than previous models; the company also added 16-bit PC-9801UR models which use a solid state disk alternative and measure 12 by 9.4 by 3.4; NEC expects to sell 250,000 units of the DA model, 100,000 of its DS model and 60,000 of the UR and UF a year.
