IBM CorpÆs Tivoli Systems Inc unit has won the UKÆs National Westminster Bank as a customer for its systems management software, which it will use to manage up to 50,000 workstations. NatWest Technology Services will use Tivoli Enterprise for system, application and middleware management it provides to the NatWest Retail Banking Services network. The implementation, scheduled for completion this year, will include 1,750 remote locations and 3,000 servers, as well as the 50,000 workstations, and the Tivoli software will also be used to manage network security across the distributed system. It will manage SAP R3 applications, IBM MQ-Series messaging, Microsoft Exchange, Internet and intranet access, and Oracle and Microsoft-SQL Server databases, running on a mixture of hardware systems, including Windows NT, Unix, Novell NetWare and IBM AS/400s from a single point of control. NatWest is also using TivoliÆs Service Desk product for service level management requirements to individual business units within the NatWest Group, likely to handle over 40,000 calls a month. The value of the deal wasnÆt revealed.
