The UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has extended its contract with Capgemini to deliver a secure payment service that it uses with trading partners.
The outsourcer and technology consultant will provide the MoD with a managed service delivering Purchase to Pay capabilities for its trading partners.
The new contract extension is for a year, and means that the contract will run until December 2016, and is worth a total of £9.17m.

Our strong relationship with the MOD has made this a very successful collaboration, and it is a great achievement to be going into our sixteenth year of working together.
"We know we cannot rest on our history of delivery, however, so throughout 2016 we will continue to look for new ways to build on our relationship and provide additional innovative services to the MOD."
Capgemini and the MoD have a longstanding commercial relationship which has run from 2000, which started with the Defence Electronic Commerce Services contract.
The firm, which has 180,000 staff worldwide, has recently announced that it is going to train 1000 professionals to support migration to Amazon Web Services, expanding its collaboration with AWS. It was part of its AWS migration factory in both Chennai and Bangalore, supporting the transition of business application to the AWS cloud.

In June 2015, the MoD chose HP to provide its Defence Geospatial Services with a scalable foundation, which HP said would help it deal with humanitarian and defence crises but updating how its uses geospatial intelligence.
The project was meant to give both military personnel and civil servants the ability to search, discover and retrieve GEOINT from any terminals that it has within its Digital Information Infrastructure.
