Microsoft and NComputing have entered into an agreement, whereby NComputing will align with the Microsoft Windows Server technology platform.
As part of the agreement, NComputing will develop new hardware and vSpace software products to take current and future Microsoft Windows Server operating systems for multiuser computing, such as the Windows MultiPoint Server 2010.
The companies said that the collaboration is aimed at helping educational institutions take advantage of multiuser computing on the Windows Server platform.
According to Microsoft, multiuser computing taps into a computer’s excess capability to enable a single host computer to support multiple users simultaneously. It reduces computer costs and is suitable for educational institutions to manage and support a secure IT infrastructure with little or no supporting IT resources, reducing carbon footprint.
In addition, multiuser computing is suitable for educational institutions that are looking to provide more students with computing availability at a lower overall cost and get the most out of their existing technology investment, the company claims.
Customers can use Microsoft Windows Server for the security features, reliability and performance that it brings to multiuser educational computing, Ncomputing said.
