Microsoft said in a statement that for developers, IE11 brings increased support for modern web standards powered by hardware acceleration to enable a new class of compelling applications and fast and fluid web browsing.

"IE11 adds support for over 25 new or improved modern Web standards beyond IE10," the company said.

Enhanced support to for HTML5 and other standards allows IE11 to offer users an improved web application experience, without the requirement of plug-ins, Microsoft adds.

The software company has also launched the new F12 developer tools, which are aimed at assisting in iterative, visual debugging and tuning of web sites, excluding modern IE-based cross-browser testing.
