Micron Electronics Inc has completed the acquisition of HostPro Inc, the Los Angeles-based internet content and applications hosting company it agreed to acquire back in July. PC maker Micron has acquired all the outstanding stock for an undisclosed amount.

HostPro, which was founded in 1996 under the name NetLimited, is a web hoster aiming its services at small to medium sized businesses. It has 11,000 accounts and revenue growing at over 10% per month. Its services run on Silicon Graphics servers, Cisco Systems Inc routers and switches and the UUNet backbone, include e-commerce, database and multimedia applications to customers such as Caesar’s Palace, the California Federal Bank and Web.com. It also hosts web sites for customers including Xerox Corp and CBS.

Micron, based in Nampa, Idaho, says the acquisition is one of several initiatives it is taking to turn itself into a full service provider of internet, networking services and hardware for small and medium-sized businesses. Last week Micron signed a deal with Net Perceptions Inc to deploy personalization software for e-commerce and call centers and to use the Net Perceptions Recommendation Engine and shopping assistant on its MicronPC.com web site, to help users complete purchases of build to order PCs over the internet.
