Metier Management Systems Ltd’s Artemis planning and control software is now available on Hewlett-Packard 9000 Series 800 Unix minicomputers. Artemis 7000, which already runs on DEC VAX and 80386-based systems, has facilities for conventional project management, and includes features for the control of capital investment programmes, engineering projects and software development. It includes its own relational database management system and fourth generation language. Metier, based in Hayes, Middlesex, is currently changing hands from long-term owners Lockheed Corp to Lucas Industries Plc of Solihull. Marketing manager Iain Hunneyball claimed that the use of planning and control software, previously associated with major construction and aerospace projects, was now finding its way into new market areas, making a choice of multiple hardware systems more important. Written in C, Artemis 7000 will also be implemented for the 68000 family HP 9000 Model 300 Series in the future, and an SQL interface to external databases such as Ingres and Oracle will be added.
