Medical imaging application company Lumisys Inc is to acquire CompuRAD Inc, a Tuscon, Arizona-based clinical information software and teleradiology company in a stock for stock swap. The deal is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year and will see the formation of a combined company that will develop hardware and software. Sunnyvale, California-based Lumisys says the purchase will be able to increase the number of its products and develop a new generation of intelligent medical imaging applications. Lumisys designs, manufacturers and markets a family of precision digitizers that convert medical images on film or video into digital format and it anticipates to increasingly direct its products towards the nuclear medicine, cardiology and clinical information markets.
