Juniper Networks has enhanced its SRX5800 Services Gateway with new hardware to enable service providers and large enterprises to minimise security bottlenecks.

Additions to the anti-threat firewall include third-generation input/output cards (IOC3), an enhanced midplane chassis and third-generation system control boards (SCB3).

According to Juniper, the enhancements will enable enterprises to provide a scalable and reliable system that protects users from current and future threats without compromising on the performance of high speed service.

Juniper Development and Innovation vice-president and security chief technology officer Christofer Hoff said: "As the threat landscape continues to evolve and a variety of devices increasingly flood the network, companies are forced to not only meet network performance demands but also ensure they have efficient, fast and scalable protection in place.

"With Juniper’s latest performance advancements, the company is elevating industry standards and empowering businesses to accelerate time to enforcement with the fastest available throughput on the market today."

Juniper’s SRX series provides security with integrated threat intelligence.

The SRX5800 Services Gateway comes with 100GbE interfaces and features Express Path technology, which provides Internet Mix (IMIX) firewall throughput of up to 2Tbps (Terabits per second).

With the latest upgrades, the SRX5800 will provide a security platform that can go beyond 2Tbps.

Each IOC3 line card is said to support two packet forwarding engines (PFE), a high density configuration of 2x100GbE and 4x10GbE high speed interfaces.
