Farnborough-based marketeer International Business Software (UK) Ltd, has introduced an applications systems builder, Mach 1, for the IBM 9370 running with VM and CICS as well as support for the Novell local area network with record logging facilities in the IBM PC-DOS environment and an SQL interface. Together with US integrator Tominy, International Business Software has opened up Mach 1 to allow access to host system files. Over time, this will be available over all the hardware on which Mach 1 operates but the initial facility will be aimed at System 36 and IBM mainframes. It will be enhanced by the end of the year so as to be completely transparent to the system developer. By porting Mach 1 to the 9370, the company claims it provides 100% compatibility for IBM, NCR, DEC and Data General kit. Mach 1 includes a database management system, a full functional logical programming language, program generators, screen and print definition facilities and a report writer. International Business Software has also launched RPG-AID, an advanced interactive debugger system for the System 34 and 36 which it claims cuts testing time by 30 per cent. It works with all types of RPG II programs including MRT, SRT, batch and auto report and is claimed to provide a clear picture of program status and an on-line tutorial. Users compile their program under RPG-AID and test it using regular unmodified calling procedure. A debugger screen is then displayed for a definition of breakpoints defined by the user. When the program reaches breakpoint, RPG-AID suspends program execution and displays a complete rundown including program flow, indicator status, field contents and breakpoint conditions. International Business reckons that it is the only debugger that allows interactive setting of conditional breakpoints and allows restart at any instruction.
