A strategic partnership has been struck between Intel and fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff, in a deal looking to expand opportunities for girls and women in technology and engineering.

Intel will work with Rebecca Minkoff to expand the pipeline of diverse and female engineers, support more positive representation of opportunities for women in technology, and connect women around the world to a range of opportunities.

It is hoped that Rebecca Minkoff will help bring excitement about technology careers and the amazing opportunities girls and women can have if they embrace science and engineering with passion.

Although predominately in the fashion world, Minkoff is no stranger to technology. The Rebecca Minkoff brand, the largest global fashion label helmed by a millennial female, has a long history of creative and innovative uses of emerging technologies. Last year, Minkoff unveiled a line of wearables at its Spring ’15 New York Fashion Week.

The partnership also includes collaboration with U.N. Women and was announced on stage at the U.N. Women’s Planet 50-50 by 2030 event in New York.

This is the latest move by Intel to diversify the workforce, following the launch of the company’s Diversity in Technology Initiative, which includes a bold new hiring and retention goal to achieve full representation of women and under-represented minorities in its workforce by 2020.

Intel have pledged $300 million to the initiative.
