Lenovo and Intel have unveiled a custom-made laptop for school going kids – Lenovo Classmate+ PC.
The Lenovo Classmate+, which provides schools an affordable, child-friendly complete hardware and software solution, is based on the Intel Learning Series reference design, said Intel.
The Classmate+ is targeted at children in mainly developing countries. It runs Intel Atom N455 processor has 1/2 GB RAM and operates on Windows 7.
The 10.1-inch screen comes with anti-glare technology and has a 1.3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, two speakers and 3-cell or 6-cell battery options.
The hard disk capacity varies from 8 GB or a 16 GB SSD to a 160 or 250 GB HDD and the laptop has multiple USB ports and a 4-in-1 card reader to support viewing multimedia.
The lightest version of the laptop weighs 1.33 kg.
The Classmate+, featuring drop-resistant exteriors and spill-resistant keyboards, will have the Intel Learning Series software suite pre-installed in it, said the company.
Lenovo Worldwide Education director Michael Schmedlen said the company is committed to creating education solutions that improve schools’ efficiency, as well as leading initiatives to evaluate how technology can measurably improve learning outcomes.
