IBM Corp says it is now shipping a 275MHz incarnation of its PowerPC 750 microprocessor, the highest specification version of the chip that it first introduced last year. The company says it expects its customers to introduce systems and upgrade cards for Mac OS applications based around the new offering over the next few months. The first takers for the chip will be the likes of Wichita, Kansas-based Newer Technologies and Interware Co, Ltd who will use the new hardware in its Booster G3 275 central processing unit upgrade card. The 275MHz PowerPC 750 processor is available now, priced at $520 in quantities of over a thousand.
