IBM has unveiled new services and technology to create, manage, and build application programming interfaces (APIs).
The company launched an intelligent cloud-based matchmaking technology, which helps clients identify and use the best APIs.
The service, API Harmony, will accelerate the growth of API Economy, which is expected to be worth $2.2tn by 2018.
API Harmony helps developers in building new apps, makes recommendations on which APIs to use, shows API relationships, and identifies the missing elements.
IBM’s API Economy Journey Map enables clients identify important areas and gauge their readiness in the API Economy.
The company built machine-learning capabilities into its API Harmony technology so that developers can use intelligent search technology to quickly identify APIs and select the effective combinations for a given app.
API Harmony is available through IBM Cloud on the company’s cloud platform Bluemix.
The company said its Watson APIs are managed by IBM API Management on Bluemix, bringing about 30 cognitive-based APIs to industries.
IBM is working with the Linux Foundation and industry standards organisations to create an open platform to build, manage, secure, and integrate open APIs.
The company is participating in two key standards organisations in banking and healthcare to help clients in the rapid integration of APIs into their digital services.
