Huawei has announced the launch of a new device that will let fans of Arsenal FC take their loyalty to the next level.
The Chinese firm has unveiled a special 4G Arsenal version of its recently-released Ascend P7 smartphone packed full of special features for fans of the club, including a club crest engraved into the back of the device.
The "Arsenal Edition" Ascend P7 (pictured below) also includes special themed menus and a selection of wallpapers and images from Highbury buildings, the Emirates stadium at day and night plus images from the 2014 FA Cup win – there’s even a special clock face based on the famous Arsenal clock end.
In order to maximise the device’s 5in HD display, the Huawei Ascend P7 Arsenal Edition also comes with the BBC iPlayer and BBC iPlayer Radio apps pre-installed to keep fans up to date with all the latest action, as well as the Yakatak ‘fan talk’ app and FIFA 14 game also included.
Interested fans can register at arsenalsmartphone.com to find out more information, however no concrete release date has yet been confirmed (although it should be before the beginning of the new Premier League season on August 16).
The Ascend P7 was launched in the UK earlier this year, marking Huawei’s biggest European device launch so far. The device features a 5in HD display supporting a 1,920 x 1,080px resolution, a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8 megapixel front camera optimised for taking ‘selfies’ .
Huawei was signed up as the club’s official smartphone partner back in January, following similar deals with several other sports teams around the world, and recently sponsored the "Huawei Cup" 5-a-side tournament in May.
Richard Ren, president of Huawei’s consumer business group in Western Europe, said: "We are two powerful brands and this makes Huawei a great match for a club with the global stature of Arsenal. We have a few surprises in the pipeline to make every Arsenal fan’s season the best ever, so watch this space."
Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal’s sales and marketing director, hailed the launch as important for both the live and digital experience for the club’s fans.
"This new limited edition smartphone is designed to help our fans remain connected to the Club wherever in the world they are," he said.
"We are delighted to be collaborating with Huawei in this way at such an exciting time in the development of its brand globally, and in particular in the UK and Europe".
