HP and Microsoft signed a four-year strategic partnership to deliver integrated unified communications and collaboration software.

The deal is an extension of their original deal, Frontline Partnership. As part of the original deal, both are shelling out an additional $180m in product development, professional services, as well as joint sales and marketing.

The goal is streamlining communications across messaging, video and voice with connected applications and devices.

The companies will join to develop products and services across MS Office SharePoint Server, MS Exchange Server, MS Office Communications Server (OCS) and HP ProCurve networking products which would be sold through each firm’s usual channels.

Besides, it will create “end point interoperability” with HP Halo Telepresence Solutions and OCS-based unified conferencing.

The companies mentioned in a statement: “The end-to-end solution, which is planned to span software, hardware, networking and services, would enable customers to improve business output and reduce travel, telecom and IT operating costs.”

Stephen Elop, president of Microsoft Business Division, said: This means one click to communicate, one click to conference, one click to collaborate.
