HP said that it is a founding member of the Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCIF), a collaborative effort among hardware and software vendors, service providers and network operators to eliminate the barriers to unified communications (UC).
According to HP, the UCIF was created to address issues around the current inability to connect systems from leading UC companies worldwide.
As part of forum, HP is working to enable Halo visual collaboration offerings to interoperate with other standards-based video offerings.
HP is joined in the UCIF by four other founding members, Juniper Networks, Microsoft, Polycom and LifeSize/Logitech Communications, as well as Acme Packet, Aspect, AudioCodes, Broadcom, BroadSoft, Brocade, ClearOne, Jabra, Plantronics, RADVISION, Siemens and Teliris.
Rob Scott, worldwide general manager and Halo Visual Collaboration Business at HP, said: “Customers want UC deployments that provide a consistent user experience across multiple devices and platforms, which can bring new productivity to their teams.
“The forum’s members will work together to enable interoperability across the UC stack, including voice, video, instant messaging and presence.”
