Fingerprint-recognition forms the centerpiece of HP’s ProtectTools security offering for the device, based on software from Credant Technologies. VPN support is also included.

Horsepower for the hx2750 comes from features a top of the range Intel XScale PXA270 CPU rated at 624MHz as well as 128MB of both RAM and ROM, 213MB of which is free for new applications and data. The hx2750 also includes both WiFi (802.11b) and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

HP also unveiled two more devices aimed at corporate users. The iPaq hx2110 and hx2750 offer similar packages to hx2750, but are less well specified in terms of hardware, and lack fingerprint-recognition. The last HP PDAs to feature biometrics belonged to the iPaq h5000 range.
