HP is targeting mobile app developers with the launch of several pieces of software aimed at improving the quality of software.

Among them is an analytics platform App Pulse Mobile which monitors the performance of apps, an update of the project manager Agile and an overhaul of the Mobile Center, a suite for testing mobile programs.

Robert Youngjohns, EVP and GM at HP Software, said: "As businesses get serious about their mobile application strategy, they realise that point solutions fall short in helping them to quickly create and deliver amazing mobile experiences that are secure, high-performing, and beautiful.

"HP is uniquely positioned to lead in the mobile market by bringing together our proven assets in application development, operations management, security, and big data to help businesses deliver winning mobile apps that delight customers and positively impact their brand, revenue, and market share."

Alongside its app development tools the company has also released updates to its Network Virtualization and Service Virtualization software, which it also helps will drive development on the mobile.

It has also integrated its Application Lifecycle Management tool with the software security program Fortify, allowing customers to test the security of their mobile apps, which remains a big concern in the cybersecurity industry.

"HP allows us to take big data and make it actionable, so we can deliver exceptional user experiences on our mobile speech translator app," said Yan Auerbach, COO at SpeechTrans, a translation firm.

"Previously, it took us up to three weeks to fix an app issue and now we can address any problem in less than two days. Leveraging HP software has enabled us to achieve consistent 5-star ratings in mobile app stores – a key driver of new customers and revenue."
