Honeywell Bull Ltd has won a UKP5m contract from the UK Central Electricity Generating Board for stage one of a nationwide networked information system for power station management: the project, known as ISIS or the Integrated Station Information System is eventually estimated to involve UKP60m to UKP65m of computer systems; to begin with Honeywell Bull will replace the distributed networks in five power stations with DPS 7000 computers and Questar workstations; at present the networks operate on Unisys B1900 and ICL ME29 hardware; the software will be developed and maintained using Pacbase, a system supplied by Compagnie Generale d’ Informatique, and Honeywell Bull ultimately hopes to install ISIS in all 60 power stations in the UK; until then the various central systems will simply communicate.
