Hewlett-Packard Co has lost a contract worth as much as $200m to supply Ford Motor Company with a worldwide diagnostic system. The contract, won by GenRad Inc of Westford, Massachusetts, includes the supply of Windows NT-based software development tools, diagnostic applications authoring and hardware systems throughout the world to Ford’s dealerships. The exact value and terms of the deal are not known, but the contract is believed to be worth in the region of $100-$200m. The deal was won by GenRad’s Advanced Diagnostic Solutions division, based in Manchester, England, which specializes in vehicle diagnostic and information systems for automotive, aerospace and related industries. Ford previously used a system it developed jointly with Hewlett-Packard, which was known as the Service Bay Diagnostic System.
