Gateway Communications Inc has launched the 64Kbps G/Remote Bridge 64, claiming that it combines the NetWare IPX protocol with the CCITT X25 protocol to provide transparent bridging between NetWare-based local area networks. G/Remote Bridge 64 consists of an Intel 80186based WNIM-186 hardware adaptor and X25 bridging software; users can bridge over an RS-232 or V.35 interface, with up to 128 virtual circuits per port. The bridge also features a monitor capability that enables any personal computer on the bridged local network to view all bridge activities and configurations; Irvine, California-based Gateway says the new product can co-exist with the company’s existing G/Remote Bridge.
