The Turkish bank already uses the Digipass 260 hardware for corporate banking. Retail customers will be able to choose either the software Digipass for Java Phone or Digipass 260. The underlying technology, Vacman Controller, supports the entire range of Vasco’s client authentication products.
Digipass for Java Phone is a software Digipass that can be downloaded to any Java-supporting mobile phone. The customized version of Digipass for Java Phone used by Garanti Bank is able to compute digital signatures, in addition to one-time passwords.
We opted for Digipass for Java Phone because we wanted to give our retail customers the choice whether to work with a hardware Digipass 260 or to download software on their mobile phone, said Rasim Mahmutogullari, manager of the strategic support unit at Garanti Bank.
