Fujitsu Ltd has a flourishing international network but it takes time to get all its foreign affiliates working in concert. But in a major initiative, the company is now rallying not only Amdahl Corp and ICL Plc, but also non-affiliated long-time ally Siemens AG and Stream International Inc and DecisionOne Inc to join forces to offer worldwide maintenance services for software and hardware, starting next year. According to the Nippon Keizai Shimbun, maintenance will be provided for products not only from Fujitsu and allies but also from the likes of IBM Corp. The participating firms will divide up service areas, taking advantage of time differences to provide round-the-clock response to customer enquiries. As primary responsibilities, Fujitsu is to take the Asia-Pacific region; Amdahl and Stream International will mainly cover the US, Siemens and ICL will handle Europe.
