Fluke rolls out 802.11ac wireless standard to network tools

News: Standard rolled out to put businesses back in control of the performance of their entire IT landscape.

By Joao Lima

Netscout’s business arm Fluke Networks Enterprise Solution has introduced wireless technology standard 802.11ac into its solutions in preparation for the M2M/IoT era.

The company said the standard is being rolled out on its portable network analysis and troubleshooting tools, the OptiView XG Network Analysis Tablet and the OneTouch AT Generation 2 Network Assistant.

Fluke Networks said the appetite for Wi-Fi is growing faster than the infrastructure to support it. The number of network-connected devices will continue to grow at a rate of nearly 20% by 2016.

The firm also said the 802.11ac wireless standard promises to triple the speed of Wi-Fi network connections.

Speaking to CBR on how the products can help companies in the IoT era, Daryle DeBalski, GM of Fluke Networks Enterprise Solutions, said: "People increasingly judge the quality of a network by wireless access performance. If users [or devices in the IoT] experience a slow Wi-Fi network, or they can’t connect to it, or they keep losing the connection, their frustration mounts and the entire network becomes suspect."

DeBalski said that a faster wireless technology standard like 802.11ac offers significant upside, but only if IT teams can keep the network running at optimal levels.

"Our expanded support for 802.11ac gives IT leaders peace of mind, knowing their teams can quickly find and fix any wired or wireless performance issue to maximize end-user experience."

Mark Carter, EMEA field marketing at the company, also told CBR: "To end-users the "network" is largely invisible and only comes into focus when a problem occurs, and when performance is less than optimal, they just want the problem fixed as soon as possible."
