Hot Docking is a Point of Sale (POS) solution from HP that combines tablet, chip & pin and PoS software.
In store ertail sales assistants will be able to review customer purchase histories, product availability and take payments anywhere in the shop.
This has the potential to free up floor space currently used ro payment areas but which could be repurposed to hold more inventory.
The PoS system will maintain its traditional functions, but with added capabilities on top will help to make a fully integrated omni-channel offering a reality.
The solution was developed with HP to create a tailored shopping experience. The mobile solution overcomes the problem of traditional device drivers which would not work when undocked.
This has been solved by keeping the device driver layer active in the event of the tablet being un-docked. This means that when it is re-docked, the drivers are automatically re-initialised and can be used without the intervention from a sales person.
