NCR Corp, Dayton, Ohio-based provider of transaction processing hardware, software and services, has reported second-quarter net income down 4.2% at $46m on revenue that was essentially flat at $1.57bn. Earnings per share for the quarter dipped 2.2% to $0.45, beating Wall Street expectations by a penny. Product revenue for the quarter declined 1.8% to $852m, while services revenue rose 2.0% to $720m. Total gross margin for products and services increased 1.6 points to 31.6% from the year-ago quarter. Product gross margins rose 3.1 points to 37.7%, while services gross margin remained unchanged at 24.4%. Total expenses in the quarter were down 3% from the prior year at $436m compared to $449m. Six- month net income rose 2.1% to $49m on flat revenue of 2.9bn, while earnings per share rose 4.3% to $0.48. Year-ago results for both periods include a one-time gain of $55m from the disposal of assets.
