Datrontech Group Plc, distributor of memory and hardware upgrades, has bought into the Belgian market by acquiring Partronics NV, distributor of Kingston Technology Corp dynamic RAMs. Datrontech would not disclose the sum paid, but said that Brussels-based Partronics is one of only two Kingston distributors in Belgium, and last year had a $2.25m turnover. Datrontech, which recently floated on the London Stock Exchange (CI No 2,574), is the sole UK distributor for Kingston. Mark Leatham, Datrontech’s marketing manager, said Partronics, with its similar business philosophy, made an ideal European partner. Datrontech’s Malcolm Ramsey has been appointed temporary sales and marketing manager at Partronics and will implement the Datrontech marketing strategy, but said that when he returned to England, the company would recruit more Belgian staff to cover its expected expansion.
