Telecommunications equipment and network services provider ZTE has introduced LTE-A Inter-band Dual-Carrier commercial base station at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona.
The new base station, which is based on SDR hardware platform, introduces inter-band carrier aggregation and MIMO (multiple input and multiple output) technologies.
The inter-band carrier aggregation and MIMO technologies can double peak rate, enabling downloads of up to 270Mbps in the downlink and meeting data service demands.
Carrier aggregation technology will assist operators with separate and discontinuous frequency resources because it can aggregate multiple carriers and increase frequency utilisation rate.
The inter-band carrier aggregation technology can also solve the problem of throughput decrease in the cell edge.
