ZTE, a provider of telecommunications equipment and network offerings, has launch Gecko, a multi-carrier mini CDMA base station.

ZTE claims that the new small sized, lightweight, easy to mount CDMA base station satisfies operators’ networking requirements, such as indoor blind-spot coverage and hot-spot traffic distribution.

The Gecko supports several IP networking modes and achieves access by using various transmission resources including MAN, LAN, PON, xDSL, and satellite.

It also helps operators make up for any deficiencies, improves network quality, enhances user experience and builds efficient CDMA networks.

In addition, the base station with a coverage area of around 300mts is capable of supporting 31 1x users or 64 EV-DO data users and provides high quality indoor 3G data and voice services.

ZTE CDMA&LTE product line general manager Li Jian said that the Gecko base station can help operators to acquire more subscribers and speed-up network construction, thus enhancing the profitability of mobile broadband networks.
