ZeroG Wireless has announced availability of TWR-ZGWIFI development kit for the Freescale semiconductor tower system. The result of a joint development program, the kit expands the connectivity capabilities of a prototyping platform Tower System.

According to ZeroG, the embedded Wi-Fi module is optimised for applications with lower data rates, lower power consumption and resource requirements. The development kit includes the Wi-Fi board with the ZeroG ZG2101 Wi-Fi I/O module and antenna and an instructional DVD, sample applications, and software drivers to integrate it into the Tower System.

Seperately, ZeroG Wireless has also released Wi-Fi modules operating over an extended temperature range between -20 to 85 degrees C. The ZG2101ME, an enhancement to the commercial temperature range of the ZG2101MC, enables a broad array of industrial, scientific and medical applications to benefit from internet connectivity.

Tim Colleran, vice president of marketing at ZeroG Wireless, said: The modular environment of the Tower System, which enables designers to easily add hardware capabilities, allows for the seamless integration of ZeroG’s Wi-Fi I/O capabilities.

The TWR-ZGWIFI is available for a retail price of $59.
