Yahoo will close its maps site and several other apps by the end of this month. The company will also stop supporting Yahoo Mail for Apple’s built-in mail app running on iOS 5 or earlier versions, effective from 15 June.

Apart from the Yahoo Maps site, the company will also shut down some of its regional, genre-specific media properties in the coming weeks to streamline editorial offering.

In its blog post, Yahoo said it will continue to focus on its key products and make sure its resources are spent smartly and with a clear purpose.

The content from the websites will be redistributed throughout the Yahoo network.

The affected markets and properties include Yahoo Music in France and Canada as well as Yahoo Movies in Spain.

The company said it will also close Yahoo Philippines homepage and genre-specific media sites, and redirect to the Yahoo Singapore homepage.

Yahoo TV will be closed in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Canada apart from Yahoo Autos in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

Yahoo Entertainment in Singapore will be closed in early July. Yahoo Pipes tool will run until 30 September 2015.
