Wipro Technologies, a consulting, system integration and outsourcing business of Wipro, has announced the opening of a new development centre in Budapest, Hungary.

The new development centre was set up to primarily service the transformational program of Magyar Telekom (MT), a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, the largest telecom service provider in Hungary.

Earlier this year, Wipro had signed a multi-year transformational deal with MT, to improve efficiency in customer experience and increase market agility.

Wipro said that this strategic move leverages its global transformation capability and enables a complete range of business and technology services to be delivered, closer to the customer.

Wipro Technologies European head of global media and telecom and vice president Jack Smies said they are fully committed to their relationship with Magyar Telekom and this important investment complements their longer term goals in the region; delivering services in closer proximity to their clients and leveraging the local talent pool better.

"The net result will be services delivered locally, set against global best practices that, when combined, will deliver a successful transformation program at Magyar Telekom," Smies said.
