The companies said that the songs will be offered without digital right management protection from this week on Amazon MP3.
Amazon’s US download store was launched in September 2007 and sells music from other labels like Universal Music and EMI. Sony BMG is now the only major label not signed by Amazon.
Under the terms of the agreement, Warner Music said that it will make its entire collection available to Amazon MP3 so that it can be played on any device, including Microsoft’s Zune and Apple iPods and iPhone. The music company’s artists include Led Zepplin, Aretha Franklin and Sean Paul.
Michael Nash, senior vice president of digital strategy and business development at Warner Music said: Consumers want flexibility with respect to what they can do with music once they purchase it and we want them to have that flexibility, which is why we’re pleased to offer our artists’ music on Amazon MP3.
In a related development, Apple signed a deal earlier this week with Fox to make its movies available for rent online through the iTunes store.
