VivoWare said that it plans to release source code for VivoSocial as open source, which the company says will allow developers to participate in the growth of the social networking framework for building social internet applications for the DotNetNuke framework.

The decision to open source VivoSocial was a completely natural next step. I am incredibly excited to deeply collaborate with the developer community on VivoSocial, and further fuel its momentum and innovation.”
The company said that the VivoSocial modules includes the technologies developers need to build social applications for the DotNetNuke framework. The open source VivoSocial SDK and documentation will be available under the MIT License, which allow full and free access to source code.
VivoWare said that developers will be able to download, extend and contribute to the source code for the VivoSocial components, modules and application framework.
