VIRTUS Data Centres has acquired Infinity’s flagship data centre in Slough, less than 24 months after the provider built t out.
Following ST Telemedias investment earlier this year by VIRTUS, the operator acquired 100% of the share capital of the site and has expanded its hybrid data centre provision in the capital.
The hub, now known as VIRTUS LONDON4, boasts 9,500 sqm of net technical space, 34MW and has a PUE of 1.25.
The assets, operating staff and customers of the Infinity Slough business have all transferred to VIRTUS through the transaction. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
The firm now counts three interconnected and cloud enabled data centres in the London region: Slough, Hayes and Enfield.
With Infinity’s Slough data centre buyout, VIRTUS has expanded its total data centre footprint to 58.2MW of power across 21,242 sqm of total space.
Neil Cresswell, CEO of VIRTUS Data Centres, said: "We are committed to long term sustainable and scalable expansion and we were being asked by customers and prospects to offer additional locations, including Slough.
"LONDON4 is a great strategic fit for us as we already share a number of customers, and offer the same high quality operational model."
VIRTUS is also looking into opening a fourth data centre, LONDON3, which is currently under offer with delivery of new technical space scheduled to go live in Q1 2017.
In a statement, Infinity SDC said: "Following the sale Infinity intends to accelerate the development of its London portfolio, reinforcing its position as the London Data Centre experts. Of particular importance is the development of Infinity Stratford at Here East, the former Olympic Press and Broadcast Centre currently being redeveloped into a new 1.2m sq ft digital hub for education, media and technology companies."
The Infinity Stratford hub is expected to be live in 2016 and will be one of the largest data centres in Europe with over 100,000 sq ft of technical space, according to the company.
