Virgin Media Business, an operator of fibre-optic network in the UK, has launched a new proposition aimed squarely at the data centre market that will reduce power and space consumption and allow data centres to access carrier grade connectivity simply.
According to the company, it is extending its network into selected data centres to deliver carrier grade performance, which will give data centres the power to connect user to a range of services at speeds up to 10Gbit/s with network resilience.
Each interconnect can connect up to 8,000 users and will reduce the cost through reduced space and power consumption, the company claims.
Virgin Media Business commercial executive director Andrew McGrath said coupled with their nationwide fibre-optic network they are able to give data centres the carrier grade connectivity they crave, regardless of whether they are based in London, Leicester, Liverpool or anywhere in the UK.
"Furthermore, the offering launched today delivers this connectivity in a power and space efficient manner," McGrath said.
