Virgin Media Business has signed an agreement with Unify to distribute its OpenScape unified communications product.

The deal will see the business telecoms provider sell OpenScape software to its public sector clients, with the software joining Virgin Media Business’s existing unified communications portfolio.

The specific focus will be on central and local government as well as healthcare sectors, areas where both companies already have a market share.

With the agreement, Unify continues its strategy of partnerships with global service providers. Its OpenScape solution provides voice, mobility, video, web conferencing, chat and messaging applications.

Duncan Higgins, Marketing Director, Virgin Media Business, says: "Public sector organisations are striving to offer their employees new and more flexible ways to remain connected.

"As the UK workforce continues to become increasingly mobile, Virgin Media Business is committed to helping its customers find the right technologies to achieve this. This agreement with Unify complements our existing core Unified Communications portfolio."

Trevor Connell, Managing Director West EMEA, Russia and APAC at Unify, explains: "Our agreement with Virgin Media Business is a testament to the strength of the Unify brand and market share it has taken over the last few years.

"The agreement further recognises the strengths of Unify’s OpenScape portfolio and validates its position as a leading solutions provider in the unified communications space. Whether cloud-based or on-premise, we are ideally positioned to deliver services that really change the way UK organisations work and succeed."
