Enterprise video platform provider Veodia has acquired Paris-based start-up ScreenToaster. ScreenToaster is a free browser-based service designed to capture screen activity along with audio for playback in flash players. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to Veodia, combined with its video technology, the company will provide users with the opportunity to ‘show and tell’ information irrespective of whether it is on-camera or on-screen.

Veodia said that, through research and customer feedback, it found that companies using its technology to capture, upload and deliver videos also want the ability to record screen activity, in particular to share tutorials, product demos, or document reviews. ScreenToaster’s technology complements Veodia’s existing capabilities by allowing users to capture and record screen activity from the browser without using third-party screen recording software.

Marco Fucci, founder and CEO of ScreenToaster, said: “Combining Veodia’s sophisticated video capabilities with ScreenToaster’s screencasting technology makes a lot of sense in today’s digital environment where people demand rich, accurate and authentic information at their fingertips. The integration of ScreenToaster adds another dimension to Veodia’s high-quality on-demand video broadcasting capabilities, and we’re very excited about the prospects.

Veodia expects to announce specific service offerings related to the acquisition later this year.

ScreenToaster was co-founded by entrepreneurs, Marco Fucci and Elie Curetti. It claims to have achieved a 40% month-to-month average growth in its user base since its launch.

With this acquisition, Veodia expects to complement their existing offerings which power video services for the likes of Sun Microsystems and BEA.
