After the appearance of tweets in Google search results on mobile devices, the search giant is rolling out the feature to desktops.

The companies inked a deal in February this year, under which the micro blogging site allowed Google to access its stream of data for Tweets to appear in the search results on mobiles.

The deal was aimed at helping Twitter generate more traffic to its site, supporting its plans to attract new users, and also show and sell advertisements to the account holders.

The tie-up means any keywords typed into the search engine will throw a carousel of the five latest tweets related to that keyword, in addition to the regular search results.

When a user clicks on the search results, the person will be directed to Twitter, thus attracting more users, and traffic.

The two tech giants initially forged an agreement in 2009, but it was terminated in two years as Twitter did not find it beneficial in terms of meaningful traffic, new users or additional revenue, reported Wall Street Journal.
