Tandberg Television, a part of the Ericsson group and a provider of multimedia technology, has announced that Tianjin Broadcast & TV Network has deployed a cable headend built on the Tandberg iSIS 8000 system, including encoders, multiplexers, and quadrature amplitude modulation modulators.

The system is the first deployment of Tandberg Television’s next-generation MX8400 IP multiplexer in China, and will enable Tianjin Cable to harness the efficiencies of IP as it expands its cable Pay-TV business, said Tandberg.

The Tandberg MX8400 is a new generation of system multiplexer which, as part of the iSIS 8000 system, meets the needs of both ASI and IP distribution infrastructures together with suitable for mission critical applications.

Geng Liang, regional vice president of Greater China for Tandberg Television, said: We are pleased to be working with Tianjin Broadcast & TV Network to provide our industry leading iSIS 8000 headend solution which will help drive the transition of its two million subscribers to advanced digital TV services. We have a long history of helping TV operators in China to deploy efficient and flexible distribution platforms which enable the delivery of increased channel choice, HDTV and video on demand.
