Telus, Canada’s telecommunications company, said that it will increase its 3G+ wireless data network access speeds to up to 42 Mb/s using HSPA+ Dual Cell technology.
The company said that new HSPA+ Dual Cell technology uses advanced multiplexing techniques to combine two wireless data carriers, operating at manufacturer-rated speeds of up to 21 Mb/s each, into a single carrier with manufacturer-rated downlink speeds up to 42 Mb/s.
Telus expects the new HSPA+ Dual Cell compatible devices that allows customers to take advantage of the new network capabilities, to be commercially available during the first quarter of 2011. It has completed the laboratory testing of the HSPA+ Dual Cell technology in early July.
