Ferrovial has signed an agreement with Telefonica under which it will provide telecommunications networks and information technology (IT) services for all its businesses worldwide.

The agreement includes managing voice, data and mobile networks as well as managing and maintaining the company’s entire computer network infrastructure.

According to Telefonica, the goals of the strategic agreement include upgrading the networks, deploying of network technology, and centralising management of communications and IT services. The main features required by Ferrovial include considerable capacity for expansion and flexibility to develop range of IT services.

The agreement provides for end-to-end management of all Ferrovial employee workstations, its printing platform, local area networks, Wi-Fi accesses, e-mail and integrated security offerings for browsing and secure remote access to corporate applications, Telefonica said.

In addition, it also covers managing 10,000 IP telephony users, 30,000 mobile handsets and 5,000 mobile units in Ferrovial’s transportation and logistics fleet, as well as control devices at remote sites.
