Overall telecom and networking equipment market sales remained at $32bn during the first quarter 2013, according to a report from Dell’Oro Group.
According to the report, the equipment sales to both enterprise and service provider users remained level when compared to corresponding quarter in the previous year.
The report revealed that the enterprise users have increased investment on equipment for deployment in the data centre and enterprise edge to allow network access by wireless devices, while spending on the wired enterprise access and telephony declined.
Dell’Oro Group president Tam Dell’Oro said that within the Wireless sector, Wireless Packet Core sales grew the most, but the largest contributor in dollars came from Mobile RAN.
"Mobile RAN is a massive market comprising about one-third of the $32 billion dollars spent worldwide on telecom and networking equipment," Dell’Oro said.
"As operators deploy RAN equipment they will need to connect to other equipment, which bodes well for other technologies."
"This is the second consecutive quarter that we have seen the return to growth for Wireless after four quarters of sequential decline, "Dell’Oro added.
During the first quarter, wireless network equipment sales increased by 5%, while the wireline equipment sales dropped 6%.
