TDC, a Denmark operator, has awarded its 4G/LTE upgrade contract to Ericsson. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will supply and manage the nationwide network and roll out a complete 4G/LTE offering which includes radio access network with RBS 6000 series, core network equipment, and managed services.

Ericsson said that through this agreement Danish people will benefit from enhanced experiences when accessing data-rich services at high speeds, and will have improved latency and bandwidth with the new LTE network.

TDC chief technology officer Jess Ibsen said providing an amazing experience for their subscribers is their highest priority and, therefore, it’s vital that their transition to the new LTE technology is as smooth and fast as possible.

Ericsson Denmark and Norway head Lars Tofft said its a historic day for them not only for their business in Denmark but also from an international perspective because TDC is an important customer for Ericsson.

"By extending our strategic partnership with TDC we have received the chance to prove our leading technology and managed services capabilities to support the successful launch and operation of their new LTE network," Tofft said.
